Seeing at pic du Midi

Since October 2026, the Pic du Midi has been measuring seeing with the CYCLOP instrument. The quality of seeing is thus measured continuously every clear night by this small automatic instrument.

The monthly histograms of these measurements are given below for October, November and December 2025.

The Pic du Midi is renowned for the quality of its skies. The median and most frequent seeings are equivalent to the best sites in the world, as shown by this comparison between data from the Pic in November and data from Mount Paranal (ESO-VLT) and the Canary Islands (WHT).
