What are your donations used for?

Your donations are invaluable in helping to preserve the Pic du Midi and its observatory, a living cultural landscape

Increase our understanding of the property to better preserve it.

Your donations help fund the work that has shed light on this extraordinary heritage and developed the expertise needed to preserve it.

For the past decade or so, the nomination’s sponsors have been funding studies and consulting with numerous experts—including World Heritage specialists, historians, architects, landscape architects, and ecologists—to deepen our understanding of the Pic du Midi and its observatory and to highlight its outstanding universal value.

Developing tools to understand and preserve living heritage.

Your donations help fund the development of tools that allow us to view the Pic du Midi and its observatory like never before.

The Pic du Midi and its Observatory represent a heritage that is both rich and complex. Here, human activity and nature combine to create a unique landscape: a towering mountain crowned by an observatory complex that has been constantly evolving for 150 years. To understand and preserve this multidimensional heritage, the nomination’s sponsors are funding the development of cutting-edge modeling tools. The nomination now has a digital twin, “H-BIM” (Heritage Building Information Modeling), which provides managers and the general public with a way to understand all aspects of this evolving and living heritage site.

Share the outstanding universal value of the Pic du Midi and its observatory with as many people as possible

Your donations help us carry out the essential work of passing this legacy on to present and future generations.

Preserving a World Heritage site does not depend solely on the commitment of a few dedicated individuals. It is essential that as many people as possible understand the site’s outstanding universal value and the importance of passing it on to future generations. The nomination team is organizing lecture series, events, and communication initiatives to introduce the Pic du Midi and its observatory to all audiences and share the values it embodies.

By supporting the bid for the Pic du Midi and its observatory, you are joining us in an ethical and responsible commitment.
